Below is highlights of the main provisions of Utah law pertaining to drunk driving;
License Suspension 1st Offense: 90 days
License Suspension 2nd Offense: 1 year
License Suspension 3rd Offense: 1 year
Mandatory alcohol education program with a mandatory assessment of offenders dinking level and if needed mandatory Treatment would follow. Participating in these programs help reduce fines and penalty and is in order to restore driving privileges. There is mandatory jail time after second offense. An open container law that requires both driver and passengers not to possess open alcohol containers in the vehicle. Possible ignition interlock may be installed to the ignition of your vehicle that senses alcohol on the driver. The driver must blow into the device in order to keep the car in motion.
