refusal to take a breath, blood or urine sample, and previous convictions.

License Suspension 1st Offense: 6 months

License Suspension 2nd Offense: 1 year

License Suspension 3rd Offense: 2 years

After 4th offense your vehicle can be seized.  You may have to participate in an alcohol prevention education program and an assessment on your drinking level that may follow in some type of treatment.  In South Carolina there is an implied consent law that require a driver to submit to a breath, blood or urine sample if suspected of DUI.  You may be required to pay for the cost and maintenance of an ignition interlock that is hooked up to the drivers ignition.  The device detects alcohol on the driver and the driver must blow into the machine in order to start and keep the car in motion.  An open alcohol container law is for driver and passengers.  After second offense mandatory jail time is given.
