Here are highlights from Ohio law on driving while intoxicated;

In Ohio there is an open alcohol container law for driver and passengers.  'Per Se' blood alcohol content level is .08.  Zero tolerance law requires people of the age of 21 to have not more then a blood alcohol content level of .02.  If your blood alcohol level is .17 or more, speeding over a certain limit, having a traffic accident, driving with minors in the car, previous convictions and refusing to take a breath, blood or urine sample you will face an enhanced penalty.  Under the implied consent law you are required to take blood, breath, or urine sample and mandatory suspension of licence is given if refused.  Mandatory jail time is given after second offense.  Mandatory assessment of offenders drinking level and treatment to follow if found dependent on alcohol after third offense.  After fourth offense, possible vehicle confiscation and your car can be impounded temporary or permanently.  Possible ignition interlock can be issued and the offender is responsible for the installation and maintenance cost.  The machine is connected to the cars ignition that detects alcohol on the driver, the driver must blow into the device in order to keep the car in motion and start it.

License Suspension 1st Offense: six months

License Suspension 2nd Offense: one year

License Suspension 3rd Offense: one year

A hardship license can be granted after 15 days if proven special hardship, such as the sole provider of your family.  Limited driving privileges such as driving to and from work while license is still under suspension.
