Alcohol rehabilitation

Rehabilitation is a very important aspect for recovery. In order to understand the meaning of it. Let's look at the following.

Rehabilitation: To restore to good health or useful life, as through therapy and education. American Heritage Dictionary fourth edition.

Alcohol rehabilitation (often called alcohol rehab) is a term used for the medical and/or psychotherapeutic treatment, for dependency on addictive substances such as alcohol, prescription drugs, and so-called street drugs.  The main purpose behind rehab is to aid the addict cease substance abuse, therefore avoiding all the adverse effects substance abuse can have on an individual, and ultimately restore the patient to good health. When you choose an alcohol rehab treatment. You need to make sure that it will achieve this. It will restore his ability. It will get the person to function well in life without substitute. Addiction is a way to get rid of a physical or emotional pain. As an example, if someone is shy. He takes a beer and then start to talk. Every time that he will need to communicate that’s the via he will use to being able to function socially. This is a classic example of how an Addiction will start. Instead of getting the person to “live with his problem”. You need to help the person to improve his ability. Alcohol is a consequence of an inability to deal with life.

When choosing  a alcohol rehab program, you should be aware of all the specific tools required for making complete recovery.  Although it is difficult, ask as many questions, and get as much information you feel necessary when making your decision. Remember that after leaving the rehab, the patient will need to rely on the skills obtained, there should be no other substitute in their life. Addiction is a way to get rid of a physical or emotional pain. An example would be someone who is shy. That person may choose to drink alcohol to enable conversation without hesitation. Now that it has happened once, there is no stopping that person to continue along this cycle, especially since it has already worked. This person is now drinking alcohol for the inability to deal with a part of life and will continue to do so, unless one has a realization to stop.

Alcohol rehabilitation centers were started with the intention to assist an alcoholic with needs.  Over the years many rehab centers have incorporated other methods to assist addicts, removing themselves from the true meaning as to why they were established.  Different rehabs are available.  It is up to the individual to determine which type of rehab is best appropriate for his needs.

TYPE OF REHABS

Twelve steps: The Twelve Step programs are a time-tested Method of recovery from various obsessive-compulsive behaviours which the addict believes has caused a negative impact on his/her life.  These simple instruments for living have been adopted by millions of people to successfully alter their lives, and recover from dangerous and often  life threatening behaviour.  Twelve steps are based on spiritual (not religious) concepts.  Originally created in the United States by Alcoholics Anonymous, Twelve Steps were established in 1935.   Anonymity as a Spiritual principle is the validity behind  the Twelve-Step way of life. One of the key factors behind this groups success is the like-minded individuals who participate.  Also, ongoing fellowship is a key ingredient to the success of the program.

The twelve steps address different "problems.”  Problems such areas as, Alcohol abuse, Drug abuse, overeating, gambling etc.

Long term religious based program

The concept behind this method is to immerse the addict into a hard work camp with a religious concept.  The idea is to regain contact with God in your life.  A very small percentage of individuals complete this program for various reasons.

Behavioral modification :

This program is based on trying to break the Individuals character. This is done through peer pressure, with the peer telling the addict all the negative characteristics they possess as an individual.  The reasoning behind this is to break the addicts spirit, so they can then start the re-building process.  Sometimes this technique works, and the individual is able to rebuild themselves a harmless spirit.

Biophysical treatment:

Biophysical treatment: This treatment addresses the biophysical and biochemical imbalances with a unique sauna program that eliminates toxins from the body, to eliminate cravings.  Social educational programming is also used to teach New life skills that enable the participant to overcome the many factors and hardships which life entails. The skills learned assist the participant in communication skills, learning about personalities and their traits, and association with good.  A large amount of what the addict will learn is how to incorporate the information received and adapt it to their personal views, within the morals of society.

The person will then apply these new skills to repair the previous grievance done to them.  Repairing damage done previously allows the participant to become free of their past, and enables them to live a happy, productive and drug free life.

The final stage is specifically targeted towards the participant determining their individual needs and exploring them to ensure success in future life.  It is always done by the case supervisor in the patients best interests.

This Method proves to be successful. It allows the person involved to become a happy, productive, Drug free member of society.
